The Isuzu MU-X TOUR MATE is back for 25.5MY with factory-fitted towing gear and touring features built for Australian caravanners.
The Isuzu MU-X has long been a favourite among Australian towers and tourers, and now it’s back with a new twist. For the 25.5MY lineup, Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) has reintroduced the MU-X TOUR MATE special edition — a model purpose-built for caravanners and offroad adventurers who want their tow rig ready to go straight from the showroom.
Following strong demand from its 2024 debut, the TOUR MATE returns on the top-spec LS-T 4x4 variant, combining Isuzu’s proven 3.0L turbo-diesel drivetrain with a comprehensive suite of factory-fitted towing and touring accessories.
The MU-X continues to be one of Australia’s most popular SUVs, ranking 15th among national best-sellers last year. This seven-seat SUV is praised for its blend of value, reliability and real-world versatility, both on-road and off the bitumen, making it a practical choice for families, tourers and caravanners alike.
The MU-X TOUR MATE: Built for towing and touring
The TOUR MATE package is based on the flagship 3.0L MU-X LS-T and retains its 140kW/450Nm turbo-diesel engine, six-speed automatic transmission and dual-range 4x4 drivetrain — all proven performers in the towing space. With a braked towing capacity of 3500kg, the MU-X remains one of the most capable tow vehicles in its class.
Factory-fitted inclusions focus on towing practicality and offroad protection. Standard equipment includes a satin black steel bullbar (with a polished alloy option) featuring integrated fog lights and parking sensors, plus a towbar kit with 50mm ball, 12-pin flat wiring harness and electric brake controller — all items commonly added by caravan owners after purchase.
Additional accessories such as front and rear slimline weathershields, a rear cargo liner, rubber floor mats (with carpet mats optional) and wireless phone charging round out the TOUR MATE package, which Isuzu values at nearly $9000 when fitted individually. Priced from $79,990 drive-away, IUA says the TOUR MATE represents a saving of more than $7600 compared with optioning the same gear separately.
Comfort and safety for long trips
Inside, the MU-X LS-T TOUR MATE carries over the LS-T’s premium comfort features, including leather-accented upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control and a 9in infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety technology is as comprehensive as you’d expect of a modern SUV, with Isuzu’s Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS) bringing adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance and trailer sway control.
Ground clearance remains at 235mm, with 800mm wading depth and a locking rear differential for low-range work.
Updated look and availability
The 25.5MY Isuzu MU-X TOUR MATE wears subtle badging and magnetite exterior trim, complemented by 20in machined alloy wheels. Seven paint colours are available, including Mercury Silver, Moonstone White Pearl, Basalt Black and Magnetic Red.
IUA managing director Junta Matsui said the return of the TOUR MATE responds to strong customer demand for a ready-made towing solution.
