Following hot on the heels of the release of the touring and towing-ready D-MAX TOUR MATE, Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) has spec’d up its best-selling MU-X range with the launch of the Isuzu MU-X TOUR MATE special edition.

Available at dealerships now, the special edition seven-seat SUV is equipped with more than $9200 worth of commonly selected optional genuine accessories at a driveaway price of $73,990 (on-road costs can vary depending on the state or territory where the vehicle is registered).

Isuzu describes the MU-X TOUR MATE as its most equipped and capable 4x4 SUV to date — built on the top-spec MU-X LS-T variant powered by Isuzu’s 140kW/450Nm 3L turbo-diesel engine paired with a dual-range 4x4 drivetrain, six-speed automatic transmission, leather-accented upholstery and 20-inch alloy wheels.

With towing and touring the key focus, this special edition includes an 'adventure-ready' package including frontal protection with a satin black steel bull bar with integrated parking sensors and fog lights, tow bar kit with 50mm ball, 12-pin wiring harness, electric brake controller, Clearview extendable heated and power-fold compact towing mirrors, and unique TOUR MATE badging.

Isuzu UTE Australia’s deputy managing director Mr Koichiro Yoshida said: “With the D-MAX TOUR MATE proving popular since its introduction in August 2024, it was only natural that we offer a TOUR MATE special edition to our MU-X customers.

“For years, the TOUR MATE badge represented towing and touring-ready capability, along with value for money. The 2024 Isuzu MU-X TOUR MATE is no exception, a highly equipped vehicle that offer motorists adventures direct from the showroom.”

Isuzu’s customer survey data indicates that close to half of all customers chose the MU-X for its 3.5 tonne braked towing capacity. Even with the 102kg of additional accessories fitted, the MU-X TOUR MATE has more than half a tonne of payload capacity, which is an essential safety margin for Aussies who like to tow. Other key towing features 235mm (9.2in) of ground clearance, 800mm (31.5in) wading depth, a rear diff lock and Rough Terrain Mode.

Offroad drivers will enjoy the 300mm of wading depth and the Rough Terrain Mode for extra control and safety when off the beaten track

The Isuzu MU-X TOUR MATE is backed by Isuzu's network of more than 160 dealers located round Australia, along with the comprehensive Service Plus customer care program, encompassing a five-year flat price servicing program at $449 per year/15,000km intervals, a six-year/150,000km warranty, and up to seven years of roadside assistance.
