Cruisemaster tested in RAT Run
Vehicle Components’ RAT (Remote Area Testing) team has just wound up another successful ‘RAT Run’. This time, the team’s annual expedition put VC’s Cruisemaster suspension systems and Hitchmaster couplings through their paces in the Top End.
The RAT Run is part of a continuous development program that VC has been undertaking since 2009. The runs test the products the company builds for the RV market, ensuring they’ll survive the harsh Australian outback.
This year, the team tackled the Old Telegraph Track (OTT), Cape York Peninsula, across to Normanton via the Burke Development Road and back home through the dirt tracks of central Queensland.
The RAT team took to the tracks in the Vehicle Components LandCruiser 200 Series, which towed the 2.8-tonne ‘RAT’ trailer, with a Prado towing a two-tonne development trailer. The trailers were equipped with the recently released Cruismaster ATX premium air suspension, the proven Cruismaster XT suspension, Hitchmaster DO35 couplings and a few other secret products that are still in development.
After 7000km of driving and testing, the team arrived back in Brisbane, ready for the painstaking disassembly of all of the products to ensure they met the grade.
