An important part of planning a long trip is to calculate the distance between stops along your driving route. For safety and comfort, stopping regularly for a roadside cuppa should always be part of the journey.

According to Mainroads WA, driving while fatigued is a major cause of more than 30% of all road crashes in Australia, so ensure you plan rest stops ahead of time for the safety of yourself, your family and other people on the road.

Road safety organisations recommend a stop every two hours on long trips. The Roads and Maritime Authority in NSW has developed this handy interactive rest area map to help you plan ahead.

Driver Reviver rest areas across Australia

The following rest areas are part of the Driver Reviver program. During peak holiday season, these stops are run by volunteers and offer a cup of tea, a biscuit and a place to rest before continuing on your journey.
