Known as the 'Village in the Mist', Millaa Millaa is in the heart of Tropical North Queensland on the cusp of the Southern Tablelands. The area is a haven for spectacular scenery and fresh local produce, and creates an aura of relaxation and serenity.
THINGS TO DO
Nature lovers will feel right at home in Millaa Millaa. The region provides numerous wilderness walking tracks that take intrepid travellers through breathtaking sections of high altitude rainforest. The MaMu Canopy Walk is a must see, and located only 20 minutes from town along the Palmerston Highway, it's easy to reach. The canopy walk features more than one kilometre of ground level walking tracks and a 350m elevated walkway, scaling the lush canopy of lush rainforest.
The area is also famous for its dairy farms, which produce world class cheese enjoyed here and overseas. Sample delicious dairy products in the town's cheeseries and cafes, or pack a picnic and head to Millaa Millaa Lookout to soak up the awesome views. You can even learn of the area's dairying history at the local museum.
THE WATERFALL CIRCUIT
Millaa Millaa is perhaps most famous for its spectacular waterfalls, which can best be explored via the Waterfall Circuit. The circuit begins at Teresa Creek Road, and includes Zillie Falls, Ellinjaa Falls and the iconic Millaa Millaa Falls. Just outside of Millaa Millaa, you can also visit Pepina Falls, Nandroya Falls, and Mungalli Falls, the highest on the Tablelands.
