Following the hugely successful Big Lap Bible (First and Second Editions), author Rose Foster began work on a ‘kid’s version’ of the book, the Kids’ Lap Bible. Designed as a kid's little companion to the Big Lap Bible, this book gives children travelling the Big Lap with their parents the ability to both learn what there is to see and do and be involved in planning the journey — plus, it gives them a way to record it all during the trip like a scavenger hunt of things to see around Australia and update it afterwards as a memento of their trip.

The Big Lap is an epic journey that can be daunting for young children and the Kids’ Lap Bible allows children to build their excitement, quell fears of the unknown and instils a sense of sense of understanding of the trip as they visualise what their new adventure will look like for them.

We had the opportunity to speak with Rose recently and asked her about the benefit of having your kids involved in planning the Big Lap. This is what she told us:

“Getting the kids involved in planning leads to the Big Lap becoming a collaborate family adventure. Allowing children to feel like they have influenced where you’re going or what you’re doing is a great way to keep them engaged and on board with full-time travel.”

Separated into seven handy sections — All About Australia; States and Territories; Things To Do Before You Go; Keeping Busy On The Road; Bucket Lists and Checklists; Learning Journey and Trackers; and a Journal — this wonderful guide goes a long way to supporting children to understand what life on the road looks like.

The Kids’ Lap Bible is now available for purchase for a RRP of $39.99 via the Hema Maps website here
