We put the Bluetti Elite 100 V2 Portable Power Station through its paces — a tough, compact power station that keeps the essentials running wherever you pull up.

Even the most minimalist traveller knows the sinking feeling of a flat battery. Whether you’re far off the beaten track or simply caught out by how much power your appliances draw, having a backup is essential. And even the most minimalist traveller will appreciate Bluetti ’s latest power station, the versatile, compact and easy to use Elite 100 V2.

Compact and powerful

With 1024Wh of charge packed into its 1800W LiFePO4 rechargeable lithium battery, the Elite 100 V2 weighs just 11.5kg and fits into a neat 17L footprint. It’s a smart-looking, compact power station measuring 32cm x 25cm x 21cm, and the built-in carry handle makes it easy to store in your vehicle. Its 3600W surge capacity also means it can handle power-hungry appliances like air fryers and coffee machines.

How powerful is the Bluetti Elite 100 V2?

On a recent trip to Queensland, we put the Elite 100 V2 through its paces over a couple of weeks, and I was impressed with how quickly it charged and the range of uses we found for it.

The bright LED screen displays the state of charge, available time, power usage and runtime for connected devices, which is invaluable. When running our air fryer, it showed 1348W with 0.6 hours (36 minutes) of cooking from a 93 per cent charge. When I plugged in our Starlink Mini, I learned it drew 41W and could run for nearly 100 hours. That’s impressive, and it means you could leave it running in the car, where it lives, and not have to worry about turning it off late at night.

Another quiet win, literally, is noise. Under low-power devices (i.e., anything under 600W), the Elite 100 V2 whispers along at 30dB, making it a solid option for overnight CPAP users or anyone who values peace and quiet in the van.

Recharging options

The Elite 100 V2 has nine different charging ports: two 240V AC plugs, dual 15W USB-A ports, high-output USB-C ports (100W and 140W), two cigarette lighter sockets and twin 5521 barrel connections.

Recharging is fast too — 80 per cent in just 45 minutes or 100 per cent in 70 minutes when plugged into mains (240V). It also has a built-in MPPT solar charger to suit panels up to 1000W, so you can top up your power from the sun. Updated algorithms also boost fast charging from a vehicle alternator. There’s even a phone app that sends low battery and full charge alerts.

Don’t get caught in the dark

Many of us now travel with a variety of rechargeable devices, such as cameras, drones, portable speakers, torches and e-bikes. Running out of power can be a real pain, so a backup solution like the Bluetti Elite 100 V2 makes sense. Bluetti claim the battery is good for 4000 cycles, which is easily 10 years of use, and backs it with a five-year warranty.

Bluetti has been in the power supply business since 2009 and has a service centre in Sydney.

At $1499 RRP — or $1099 on its current special deal — the Bluetti Elite 100 V2 isn’t cheap, but it’s the kind of gear that pays for itself in peace of mind when you’re well off the beaten track.
