News: Free tour, final call April 30

April 30 is the last day that travellers with disabilities and their carers can register their interested in a free tour by Aussie Outback Tours operator, Lloyd Junor.

Travellers are expected to pay only for their costs, as Lloyd, who has 22 years experience of conducting tours across the mainland, will donate his services for the duration of the tour.

Lloyd has travelled with disabled tourists before, including those recovering from a stroke and individuals living with intellectual impairments. Some of these travellers have gone away with Aussie Outback Tours four or five times.

“The fact that you are in a wheelchair or can’t run shouldn’t prohibit you from going where other people go,” says Lloyd.

Lloyd describes the tour as “soft adventure”, and is suitable for people who haven’t been caravanning before or for a long while. The convoy will travel with Flying Doctor communication and Lloyd is trained in first-aid.

The tour departs from Bendigo, Vic, from May 12 and travels through the Vic and NSW outback and will include locations such as Broken Hill, Mungo National Park and Red Cliffs.

To keep the level of contact as personal as possible, there will be a limit of 10 rigs.

“This is not a commercial trip, just a group of friends on the road,” Lloyd said.
