Half-price camping returns to all Parks Victoria bookable sites from 1 July 2025, helping travellers save while supporting nature escapes and regional tourism.

Campers planning their next outdoor escape will benefit from the return of half-price camping at campgrounds managed by Parks Victoria, with the Victorian Government committing $10.5 million to reintroduce the discounted fees from 1 July 2025.

Two-years of half-price camping

The two-year funding package will apply across all bookable Parks Victoria sites, following the conclusion of the six-month free camping program on 30 June 2025. Half-price fees were first rolled out in 2019 under the $105.6 million Victoria’s Great Outdoors initiative, which also delivered upgrades or new infrastructure at 62 campgrounds throughout parks and state forests. A further $1.7 million supported campground maintenance, repairs and operational costs.

Since Parks Victoria’s discounted model was first introduced, travellers have saved more than $25 million in booking fees.

In late 2024, a separate $9 million initiative provided free access to 131 bookable campgrounds across the state, which finished last month and was not renewed.

From July, camping fees will once again apply, at 50 per cent off the standard rate.

Lisa Patroni, executive director of Visitor Experience at Parks Victoria, welcomed the move to keep camping affordable.

“Since 2019, half-price camping has made the great outdoors more accessible than ever for many Victorian families, and we’re delighted it will continue thanks to the support of this government”, Lisa said.

“Visiting our parks is the perfect way to spend time outdoors without breaking the bank, with more than 130 bookable campgrounds to choose from.

“Not only is half-price camping helping visitors create wonderful memories in nature, it’s also extremely important in supporting regional towns and businesses.”
