Ford Australia has just confirmed the MY26 Ranger Black Edition, reviving the limited-run dual cab that proved a sell-out success when it was first released in 2024. The special edition is available to order now, with first deliveries expected to arrive in dealerships from October 2025.
The Ranger has long been a popular choice for Aussies looking for a durable tow vehicle, and the Black Edition is a great way to get a lot of cool features — plus the Ranger’s standard 3500kg braked towing capacity — at a reasonable price.
Distinctive style with practical upgrades
The MY26 Ranger Black Edition is based on the Ranger XL 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel dual-cab pick-up 4x4 but comes spec’d up with a series of exclusive design upgrades. True to its name, the limited-edition variant wears black detailing across the exterior, including a bold Asphalt Black mesh grille with Bolder Grey inserts, a black long-legged sports bar, side steps and unique 17in Asphalt Black alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres.
Inside, the package adds some everyday comforts to the utilitarian XL platform, with carpeted floor and carpet floor mat for the driver, while the drop-in bedliner and Cargo Management System help boost practicality for outdoor adventurers, tradies and towing duties alike.

Power and capability
Like the broader Ranger lineup, the Black Edition runs on the proven 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD system. It delivers 154kW at 3750rpm and 500Nm at 1750–2000rpm. And with a maximum braked towing capacity of 3500kg, it’s a good tow vehicle proposition for a wide range of vans and trailers.
Tech and connectivity
Alongside its robust drivetrain, the Black Edition also benefits from a modern interior tech suite. A 10.1in portrait-style LCD touchscreen is fitted as standard, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity on the road.
Pricing and availability
Ford has positioned the Ranger Black Edition as an affordable way into a distinctively styled 4x4 dual cab. The limited-run model is offered with a Manufacturer’s List Price (MLP) of $55,990 (excluding dealer delivery and statutory charges).
For those after drive-away certainty, Ford has confirmed competitive recommended pricing when finished in Arctic White:
- $55,000 (incl. GST) for ABN holders
- $57,000 (incl. GST) for private buyers
Customers can also opt for extras including Prestige Paint ($750) and a Towing Pack ($1950), which boosts the Ranger’s already strong towing credentials.

Back by demand
Andrew Birkic, President and CEO of Ford Australia said customer demand was central to the decision to bring the Black Edition back.
“The Ranger Black Edition is back by popular demand, offering a fantastic blend of style, capability and value,” said Andrew.
“We understand that our customers, whether for personal use or small business needs, are looking for a truck that not only performs but also stands out. The Ranger Black Edition delivers on all fronts, with its striking styling and practical features.”

Limited run
Production for the MY26 Ranger Black Edition is scheduled between September and October 2025, with only a limited number to be built. And given the model’s popularity last time it was released, it’s expected these utes will be snapped up quickly.
