Spicy Recipes for your Next Camping Trip
Spicy buffalo wings (hot)
TOTAL TIME: 1hr
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- ¾ cup flour
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 20 chicken wings
- Oil (for frying)
- ½ cup melted butter
- ½ cup hot sauce
- Cracked pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
Method:
Mix together flour, paprika, cayenne pepper and salt in a bowl.
Put chicken wings in the bowl and toss in flour mix until evenly coated. Cover bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a campfire oven over a hot fire. Fry chicken wings in batches for 10–15 minutes until brown.
While wings are frying, in a saucepan, mix together butter, hot sauce, pepper and garlic powder over medium heat. Stir until well blended and butter melted and set aside.
Place wings on a serving bowl, add the sauce and toss evenly to serve.
Tex-mex beans (mild)
TOTAL TIME: 15 mins

Ingredients:
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cans baked beans
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp mild curry powder
- 1 tsp sweet paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Method:
Fry onions in oil on a skillet or campfire oven, until soft and translucent.
Add the rest of the ingredients until heated through.
Serve with eggs and sourdough bread.
Chilli hot chocolate (medium)
TOTAL TIME: 20 mins
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 4 cups milk
- 120g chocolate (80 per cent cocoa solids)
- Chilli powder, to taste
Method:
Gently heat milk over a saucepan until medium-hot (but not boiling).
Break up chocolate into small pieces and add to the milk, whisking until melted through.
Add chilli to the mix, testing it for ideal heat, and serve.
