DrinkMate OmniFizz | Make your soda water on the go

Who doesn’t like a cold fizzy drink on a hot day? Not many would be my guess. But for some, the thought of a sugary soft drink doesn’t appeal because it's too sweet or the calories are a worry. And while DIY drink carbonators have been around for years, they are generally restricted to getting bubbles in only water.

This system from Drinkmate OmniFizz is different. It looks and works the same as similar systems, but it will fill any number of beverages with hearty bubbles.

According to the company, the key is its patented Fizz Infuser technology. The Fizz Infuser provides a two-stage pressure release control that safely and efficiently lets you carbonate virtually any drink. So, you can easily add tasty sparkle to water, juice, iced tea, cocktails, wine, and more! With Drinkmate, you can be creative and explore new sparkling drinks that weren't even possible to make before. And you control what goes in them to avoid excessive sugar and harmful chemicals.

The Drinkmate uses 60L compressed food-grade CO2 without need for batteries or electricity. The cylinders are commonly available at supermarkets.

It ranks well on the ease of use front and it's simple to install the CO2 cylinder into the back of the Drinkmate. First up, we tried carbonating some water, and it was superb. Loading was easy, and two blasts on the top tab was all it took. The bubbles were full and very effervescent, giving a delightful and refreshing drink.

Next, I thought orange juice with pulp might be a test, but the process was smooth and tasted great. There was no blockage in the fizz infuser, and a quick spray under the tap had it as good as new. All in all a good option for a fizzy fruit juice in summer.

We tried a bottle of still white wine, and while the carbonation process didn't turn into a $100 bottle of French champagne, the result was palatable and a bit of fun.

The Omnifizz comes in Arctic blue, white, red and black and retails for $149.99, including a proprietary bottle. Extra bottles cost $24.99 for a twin 1L pack, and a spare fizz infuser costs $45.99.
