We’re excited to announce that the first Hema Safe event will be happening on 8 September 2024. So, grab your vans, towing questions and enthusiasm and join the Caravan World and Hema Maps teams for an exciting day dedicated to safe towing practices.
Hema Safe is a new initiative and is an extension of the iconic Hema Maps brand. It has been created to champion awareness and education for Australian travellers who love hitting the road with their 4WD, and in our case, their van.
At its heart, Hema Safe is an education channel for anyone with an interest in touring and RV travel to learn from the experts and build their understanding of all aspects of their personal safety and the safety of others when out exploring Australia.
From trip planning in your home, packing the 4WD in the garage, loading up the van, travelling on the highway, stays at caravan parks to travelling offroad and camping in the remotest areas of Australia, Hema Safe is designed to inform and guide the journey and do its bit in making all our adventures safer.
Beyond this, the Hema Safe program also looks to be an advocate and voice for the consumer — you — within the industry, and one of its principal aims is to work towards sensible and practical legislation that makes travelling safer for all.
As part of this, Hema Safe will be partnered with other like-minded companies, working together to create safer outcomes for their customers and seek continual and innovative improvement within the touring industry.
What to expect at the inaugural event
Hema Safe has been in the works for some time, and we’ll be celebrating its official creation with a launch event in September, hosted by event partner Bosch Australia. This event will shine a spotlight on all things caravan and towing safety. There’ll be a range of activities and presentations from the experts, including:
- Caravan and tow vehicle weigh-ins, presented by Weigh Station: Spaces are limited, and bookings will be essential. Click here to secure your spot now!
- Masterclasses on weight guidelines with explanations of all the weight jargon (GVM, GTM, GCM and so on), legislation, safe weight placement and weight optimisation
- Lessons in reversing and hitching your van, camper or trailer
- Displays from Hema Safe partners, including Bosch Australia, MSA 4x4 Accessories, Tough Dog 4WD Suspension and of course Hema Maps and the Caravan World team.
- A showcase from various leading caravan manufacturers, including Wonderland RV, New Age Caravans, Harvok and Zone RV, as well as camper trailers and 4WD vehicles.
And there'll also be a coffee cart to keep everyone warm and energised.
