Next up in our Innovators and Leaders series, we take a closer look at Eden Caravans. At Eden, innovation means constantly reimagining comfort, functionality and design to create a better travel experience for customers.
When it comes to innovation, Paul Nedanis — owner of Melbourne-based Eden Caravans — walks the talk.
He sees Eden as more than just a caravan builder, rather an innovator that is shaping the future of Australian caravans, anticipating what’s next and leading the way with smarter, more sustainable and truly luxurious travel solutions that meet the changing needs of modern adventurers.
Eden is a high-end custom builder with a focus on refined luxury, modern materials and smart layouts that blend style with durability.
“For us, it’s not just about adding the latest gadgets,” Paul said. “It’s about thoughtful, practical improvements to our caravans that make a real difference to our customers when they’re out on the road.
“To keep innovation at the heart of everything we do, we stay closely connected to our customers, listen to their feedback and continuously research emerging trends in design, technology and off-grid capability,” he said.
“Whether it’s optimising weight distribution, improving solar efficiency or creating more flexible living spaces, we’re always looking for ways to improve how people live and travel in our vans.”
Paul says he’s seeing a clear shift in Australian caravanning toward greater self-sufficiency, smarter technology and a stronger demand for comfort without compromise — even in remote locations — and Eden is rising to the challenge.

Tailored approach
While much of the industry still relies on mass production and standard templates, Eden focuses on craftsmanship, careful attention to detail and smart customisation to deliver a more refined and personalised product.
“We’re not a mass-production operation,” said Paul. “We’re a close-knit team that cares deeply about the product, the process and the people who travel in our vans. We value craftsmanship over shortcuts, and we stand behind every build with integrity.
“We integrate modern materials and techniques that improve strength, reduce weight and enhance off-grid performance — without compromising on comfort or durability. Unlike some traditional builds that prioritise speed and cost, we prioritise long-term value, customer satisfaction and build integrity. Simply put, our approach is less about volume and more about quality — we build each van as if we were going to travel in it ourselves.”
Off-grid capability
The caravanning lifestyle is evolving, and travellers are wanting to travel further, stay off-grid longer and do it in style, with vans fully equipped with solar, lithium battery systems and premium self-sufficiency.
Eden responds to customers’ needs by integrating high-performance energy setups and designing its vans to be genuinely self-sufficient — without sacrificing luxury.
Luxurious interiors
Paul uses Victron energy systems that are not only powerful, but also smart, efficient and easy to use. Eden vans are equipped with high-capacity lithium battery systems, efficient solar setups and powerful inverters, giving customers the ability to run everything from air-conditioning to appliances completely off-grid.
Victron systems offer peace of mind, providing real-time energy monitoring, showing exactly how much solar you're bringing in, how much power you’re using and the status of your battery bank — all from a single touchscreen.
Victron energy systems
Eden also designs its vans with energy efficiency in mind — using low-draw lighting, smart appliance choices and well-insulated interiors to reduce overall consumption and extend off-grid capability.
“We don’t just meet the demand for better power systems — we build around it,” Paul said.
“Whether you’re heading remote or just want peace of mind, our energy systems are designed to keep you powered, connected and comfortable no matter where the road takes you.”
Smart systems and control
One of the most innovative and game-changing features Eden has introduced into its range is the Garmin system, which acts as the central ‘brain’ of the van.
It’s an all-in-one touchscreen and app-based control hub that gives owners full control and visibility over their caravan — right from their smartphone or the onboard display.
It enables owners to manage lighting, monitor water tank levels, track solar input and view real-time voltage usage — all in one place. It also integrates with the airbag suspension system so you can check whether your van is level, which is a huge plus when setting up camp on uneven ground.
The intuitive and seamless system means that instead of relying on multiple switches, gauges or aftermarket add-ons, the entire system is streamlined and centralised. And Paul says you don’t have to be tech savvy to use it.
“It’s built for convenience and control, whether you’re inside the van or standing outside with your phone. Not many manufacturers in Australia have adopted this level of smart integration yet and it’s a perfect example of how Eden Caravans stays ahead of the curve — offering practical innovation that genuinely improves the user experience.”
Space and comfort
Modern travellers want a van that feels like home, with residential-style interiors and smart layouts. Eden is meeting growing demand with premium materials, innovative storage solutions and a sharp eye for detail in everything from cabinetry to lighting, all of which was visible in the Eden X-Treme brought to Caravan of the Year 2025.
When it comes to new designs, Eden has big things in the pipeline, including new layouts with innovative slide-outs to create significantly more space inside the vans. This will allow for greater comfort and flexibility without increasing the overall van size.
Slide-outs add more living space
Lastly, customers are increasingly seeking better towing performance and safety. Eden is investing in better chassis design, weight distribution and advanced suspension systems to ensure a smoother, safer ride — whether you’re on the highway or off the beaten track.
Meeting customers’ needs
Modern caravan buyers are more informed, adventurous and have higher expectations, particularly when it comes to technology, off-grid capability and interior design.
“They’re not just looking for a place to sleep,” Paul explained. “They want a self-sufficient, comfortable and well-designed space that fits their lifestyle, whether they’re touring full-time or heading off-grid for weeks at a time. Customers’ needs are evolving — and at Eden we’re evolving with them. We listen, we adapt and we’re always looking for ways to deliver more value through thoughtful design and innovation.”
“We’re proud to say we have a lot of multigenerational families and second- and third-time buyers coming back to purchase their Eden van.
“At Eden Caravans, innovation isn’t about guessing what people want — it’s about listening to those who use our vans every day and building smarter because of it.
