Cub Campers combines modern design with true Aussie craftsmanship, building premium caravans, hybrids and campers in Sydney from locally sourced materials.

The caravanning industry is an ever-changing community of innovation and technology. However, some core values stand strong amid the changes in the modern camping scene. Cub Campers is an Aussie manufacturer that has held its values closely, building caravans and camper trailers of the highest quality. Every product is designed and manufactured in Australia, using 100 per cent Australian BlueScope steel, and is built to stand the test of time.

Established in 1968, Cub Campers is a family-owned and operated business devoted to crafting caravans and camper trailers to the highest standards. ‘Australian-made’ is at the forefront of everything Cub does, from the materials it uses to the location of its factory. Cub’s headquarters, located in the heart of Sydney, spans 12,000 square metres and houses everything from manufacturing, sales, supporting offices and service centre in one central location. This setup ensures seamless coordination among the entire Cub team, allowing for a controlled and perfected manufacturing process for all parties involved in each camper.

Originally established by founder John Kelso Fagan, Cub has stayed true to its strong family values, growing its range of campers from simple box trailers with a canvas roof to its renewed expansive caravan and camper trailer ranges. These ranges are now led by managing director and grandson of the founder, Shane Fagan. Shane’s dedication to upholding his family’s legacy and his commitment to Australian-made caravans is a standout in Australia’s RV market, exemplifying a true-blue Aussie family business.

What’s new at Cub

Exciting changes have occurred at Cub, including the release of new camper styles, additions to the management team, innovative manufacturing technology and a reaffirmation of its commitment to Australian-sourced quality.

One notable change is the appointment of Scott Dillon as business development director. Scott brings a wealth of knowledge in sales and manufacturing from his previous experience in marine sales. He is passionate about Cub’s Aussie-owned and operated ideology, stating, “I really like the Cub Campers story — the fact that it hasn’t chopped and changed over the years and — like me — is highly passionate about the Australian-made ethos.” Scott further commented, “It’s a new chapter in the life of a family business, and I’m honoured to be the first non-Fagan part of it.”

Cub Campers also expanded its lineup earlier this year, with the new F14 hybrid caravan making waves in the caravanning community. Its sleek 14ft compact design makes it an ideal hybrid caravan option, providing an easy towing and storage experience while offering a luxurious and spacious interior using pop-top technology. We were fortunate enough to check out the F14 at our Caravan of the Year 2025 presented by MSA 4X4 Accessories competition last month, so keep an eye out for its in-depth review online in May 2025.

The F14 joins other hybrid caravan models like the H14, H16 (dual overall winner at Caravan World’s Australia’s Best Hybrids 2024 presented by Tough Dog 4WD Suspension), L16 and C16, providing Cub customers with options for every budget. Cub also offers its traditional camper trailer range and has made major changes to make them more affordable than ever. The Weekender, Explorer, Escape, Frontier and Drifter make up the 2025 camper trailer range, proving that these designs can stand the test of time, with the addition of innovative technology to enhance camping experiences.

New technology is another key focus of Cub, as the team is always searching for ways to be more efficient and produce Aussie-made products of the highest quality. This has led to the addition of impressive manufacturing technology such as the Amada laser cutter, which produces cleaner finishes and finer cuts during production. Cub is also working to acquire a powder coating system to produce premium quality camper vans. Notable changes to the production line have also occurred, with restructuring of the manufacturing assembly line to ensure higher quality at a more efficient rate.

Cub Campers is fiercely dedicated to research and development, collaborating with external and in-house experts to design and develop vans that prioritise quality, durability and comfort. On average, the Cub team releases one to two new styles per year. This expansive mindset and continual push for innovation sets Cub Campers apart, demonstrating its commitment to providing customers with 100 per cent Aussie-made, sourced and built campers, while also ensuring the highest level of customisation to suit the needs of the owner.
