1. Jayco Conquest
While the Conquest isn’t plastered with external features, it does have all the basics. This includes two long nearside storage lockers, twin 4kg gas bottles housed in a third nearside locker, and a generator slide (to suit a Honda 20) and toilet cassette box on the offside. An electric drop-down entry step, electric Carefree Freedom awning, reversing sensors and stylish windows which sit flush against the side of the motorhome complete the picture. Everything about it was comfortable, stylish, practical and well-finished – classic Jayco.

2. Avida Esperance C7934SL
With an offside slide-out dinette, east-west island bed, sleeping and driving quarters for four people, and a (nearly) full-width rear bathroom, the Esperance is an ideal long-term tourer. The Agile gearbox adds to the flexibility, giving drivers the option of driving in manual or automatic mode. A good electrical set-up and optional solar capacity ensure that the Esperance is just as at home camped down by the river for a few days as parked up, pride of place, in a beachside caravan park.

3. Sunliner Vibe
In a couple of ways, the Sunliner Vibe steps away from the crowd. The north-south elevating bed is a welcome difference - it offers both a decent bed and lounge, while keeping the motorhome to under 7m (21ft) in length. In addition, it comes at a budget price! There are clearly a few compromises to achieve that price but there's still plenty of good vibes with this motorhome!

4. Discoverer Campervan
In some weird ways, campervans such as this twin-bed Discoverer are a little like the device Dr Who travels around in. The TARDIS is, from the outside, a circa-1950s/’60s British police box, its main characteristic being that it’s considerably bigger on the inside that it looks. Now, the Discoverer campervan isn't blue – and isn't that good! – but it is still designed along the lines of practical living and maximising living space. If the campervan/motorhome lifestyle is what you desire, but you have a very tight budget, then a campervan such as this Discoverer would be a great place to start.
5. A’van Ovation M7
Motorhomes, by their very nature, are a pretty luxurious way to travel but the A’Van Ovation M7 Slide-out takes that to the next level. It makes a striking first impression which is in no way diminished once you take in the inside. With travelling and living space for up to five people and sleeping quarters for four, all built on the trustworthy Fiat Ducato 180 Multijet turbodiesel engine, it would perfectly suit a couple who likes to tour in comfort, bring friends along for the road, or a family who needs a bit more space than the average.
