Swift Eccles SE specifications

With its stylish new-look interior, the caravan was apparently such a hit at the 2013 Birmingham Motor Home and Caravan Show that 50-year-old Swift quickly put it into production under its parallel Sterling brand in the UK.

Now it’s in Australia as the Swift Eccles SE. Based on initial public response at shows since it launched early this year, it will broaden the British brand’s appeal here, too.

All 2014 Swifts share the company’s new SMART construction, with body panels featuring polyurethane framing in place of timber, resulting in a claimed weight saving of between 10kg and 14kg, depending on model size.

SMART is Swift’s rather elongated acronym for ‘Strong timberless body frame with Modern desirable looks and a leading Aerodynamic shape that is Resilient to moisture, all wrapped up in a caravan that has undergone the most comprehensive Testing’.

The new technology has allowed a greater level of specification to Australian Swift models, while keeping the weights to a minimum so as to be towed legally and safely by large Australian family cars or medium-sized SUVs.
