Jurgens Narooma J2607: 2014 Review
While Jurgens’ South African heritage shines through in the new Narooma J2607 family van’s styling, layout and furniture, its Australian know-how makes it an interesting alternative to a traditional van.
Jurgens Narooma J2607 specifications
With its low, aerodynamic roofline, large windows, moulded front and rear clips, rounded corners, shallow rear cutaway and smooth two-tone finish, the Narooma looks like a quality caravan.
Based on Jurgens’ Tooradin platform, the Narooma wears its 23ft body length well and it’s only when you start manoeuvring it into position that you appreciate its true size. Certainly it doesn’t feel a large van to tow and the 2161kg Tare of the test van was at the low end for one of its size.
Internal layout
The van’s nine windows and two large roof hatches as standard shed plenty of light onto an interesting three-bed layout, with an island double bed up front surrounded by cupboards and half-size wardrobes.
At the other end you’ll find twin bunks opposite a separate shower and toilet, next to another half robe and set of drawers, which accommodates the optional washing machine.
In the middle there’s the offside kitchen, with its large Thetford three-way fridge/freezer and unusual, protruding, stainless steel sink with concertina sliding cupboard doors below.
The Verdict
This is a stylish, well-equipped and refreshing take on the Australian family van.
At its recommended retail price of $66,135 it represents reasonable value, but at the $59,990 introductory price, for which the review van was being offered at this year’s Victorian Caravan Show, it represents great buying.
