Spirit of Tasmania I extends number of sailing days per year
Not only has the Spirit of Tasmania I just completed a luxurious $31 million dollar refurbishment, they are also offering customers an extra 33 days of sailing for 2015/16 which will bring total annual Bass Strait crossings to a record 800.
Spirit of Tasmania I and II take passengers and their cars between Victoria’s Port Melbourne and Tasmania’s Devonport throughout the whole year on both day and night sailings.
The extra 33 days of sailing will cater for the increasing demand, particularly during the summer. Customers are also able to take their cars, campervans and caravans packed with everything they need for an exciting road trip in Tasmania after a relaxing cruise on the refurbished ship.
“We are particularly pleased that day sailing forward bookings have more than doubled compared to the same time last year,” says chief executive Bernard Dwyer.
“And we are confident that our passenger numbers will increase further following the commencement of the service by both refurbished vessels.”
Spirit of Tasmania I’s refurbishment includes an upgrade of the deluxe and standard cabins as well as two new cinemas. Brand new recliners have been installed in the redeveloped accommodation lounge, while the layout of the upper decks has been overhauled. There will also be a restaurant with extensive food options and bright seating spots.
