Vic sites reopen after recent blazes

Wilsons Promontory, one of Victoria’s peak natural attractions, will reopen March 21 now that fire fighters have stamped out the blaze that affected the park’s northern region. Tourists will soon be able to visit and camp at areas within the park that weren’t affected by the Vic’s February fires, including the popular Tidal River, Norman Bay and Squeaky Beach.

This follows the recent announcement of new dates for the Yarra Valley Grape Grazing Festival 2009, which was postponed due to the fires in the Kilmore region, with the event being rescheduled for April 18-19.

Upper Yarra Reservoir Park has reopened. Two campgrounds are open at Lake Eildon National Park, Fraser and Jerusalem Creek, have reopened as well, although the remainder of the park is closed.
