News: Glen Cromie CP reopens - Caravan World Australia

Park owners Karen and Charlie Azzopardi have reopened Glen Cromie Caravan Park, five weeks after it was caught up in Vic’s February fires. The owners welcomed visitors back to the 35-acre Drouin West property a week ago, after the damaged water tanks were replaced and unsafe trees removed.

“The actual flat area where the main camp site is and our cabins are still in tact; we lost six of our annual caravans and one of our camping area,” Karen said.

According to Karen, the support from their local community had been overwhelming, with the pair receiving offers of help for fencing and cleaning.

“Our biggest surprise has been the offers of support from our regular campers,” said Karen.

Sections of the park remain closed as the clean up continues, "we plan to widen the tracks," Karen adds.

Although exhausted by the experience, Karen remains upbeat, as the park's proximity to the Mount Baw Baw Alpine resort provides scope for much needed sales during the winter season.
