OUTBACK NSW OPEN FOR BUSINESS DESPITE WATER CRISIS

A dwindling water supply and tough restrictions have hit the outback area of NSW hard, with a long-term solution to the water supply yet to be found.

But Inland NSW, the Regional Tourism Organisation for the Outback, and Destination Far West have banded together to reassure travellers that Broken Hill and outback NSW remain open for business to all travellers while the process to find a permanent alternative water supply for region is underway.

Inland NSW chief executive Group Graham Perry said tourism was vitally important to the area, worth more than $140 million, and increasing overnight visitation was a priority.

He said tourists could be confident that Broken Hill’s water was fit to drink and supply was sufficient for both locals and visitors under the current water restrictions.

“We want travellers from far and wide to know that they are and always will be welcome in Broken Hill and outback NSW,” Mr Perry said.
