New eight-model XT MK4 range
Building on the success of MDC’s XT MKIII range, the new XT MK4 range has been reimagined around a fully integrated, high-efficiency 48V off-grid platform, giving customers more usable power, more comfort and more confidence away from powered sites and off the beaten track.

The initial public launch at the upcoming Let’s Go Queensland Caravan & Camping Supershow will feature two physical display models, the XT15 POP MK4 and XT16 ISLAND MK4, previewing a broader eight-model XT MK4 range spanning 14ft to 19ft. The full range will include couples and family layouts, pop-top and hard roof caravans, and both single and tandem axle configurations.
While 48V technology is beginning to emerge across the Australian caravan market, MDC is taking a range-wide approach with its XT MK4 line-up. Rather than limiting high-output off-grid capability to a single flagship model or optional upgrade pack, the new XT MK4 range has been developed around a fully integrated 48V platform designed to unlock more comfort, longer stays and fewer compromises.
At the centre of the XT MK4 range is the brand new Projecta Intelli-Grid 48V Power Management System, paired with a 48V 210Ah chassis-mounted lithium battery bank (equivalent to 840Ah at 12V), a 4000W Projecta inverter/charger and a 10-inch colour touchscreen interface with integrated smart monitoring and control.
The Projecta 48V electrical system fitted as standard across the XT MK4 range is valued at more than $27,000, underlining the scale of the upgrade and the value built into these new models.

This is a major step forward from conventional 12V caravan electrical systems, giving the XT MK4 range the capacity and architecture to support genuine off-grid appliance use.
Solar capability and capacity in the new XT MK4 range has also increased significantly, with rooftop solar capacity in some models expected to exceed 1500W as standard. Dedicated highefficiency 48V-compatible solar panels are used to support the system architecture and maximise performance.
For the units set to be unveiled at the Queensland show, the XT15 POP MK4 will feature 965W of rooftop solar, while the XT16 ISLAND MK4 will feature 875W of rooftop solar, with all models across the range supported by expandable portable solar inputs. Across the range, combined rooftop and expandable solar inputs can deliver up to 30A charging at 48V (equivalent to 120A at 12V) giving customers greater ability to replenish power when travelling away from powered sites.

Projecta’s Intelli-Grid 48V system is a fully integrated control and power-management platform that helps bring the real benefits of 48V to life for customers. Via the 10-inch touchscreen and connected phone app, owners can control lighting, load switching and key onboard functions including awning and pop-top roof operation, while also viewing live data on battery condition, solar input and power usage.

The Projecta Intelli-Grid system also integrates tyre pressure monitoring and levelling sensors, adding another layer of visibility, convenience and confidence when travelling off-grid.
Market Direct Group General Manager - Commercial and Product, James Field, said the new range has been developed around the way customers actually want to travel.
“48V completely changes the conversation,” Mr Field said. “This is not just about adding more battery capacity or more solar. It is about building a caravan around the way people actually want to travel. Customers want to run air conditioning, cook properly, stay away from powered sites longer and still enjoy the comfort and convenience they are used to at home. The XT MK4 range has been developed around making this a reality for travellers.”
A major lifestyle feature of the new range is the NCE 29L 4-in-1 Air Fry Convection Microwave, which brings air fryer, oven, grill and microwave functionality into one built-in appliance. MDC is among the first Australian caravan brands to integrate this new appliance into a full model range, making air frying a genuine part of the caravan cooking experience rather than an aftermarket benchtop appliance. Every XT MK4 model also includes a Dometic 2-zone induction cooktop, creating a modern internal cooking setup that works hand-in-hand with the new 48V system.

“Customers do not just want to simply re-heat food in a caravan anymore,” Mr Field said. “They want real cooking options. The built-in air fryer function is a simple but powerful example of how the XT MK4 range has been designed around everyday use, not just specification sheets.” Climate comfort is delivered through the Dometic FreshJet 7 Series 48V air conditioner, while hot water is supplied by the Truma AquaGo Comfort Plus instant gas water heater. Heating is provided by an Eberspächer D2L Airtronic diesel air heater, further strengthening the range’s all-season off-grid capability.
Inside, the XT MK4 range introduces a warmer, more refined yet bold design direction. The interior pairs outback slate textured cabinet fronts with oak benchtops, stonewash grey premium leatherette upholstery, matte black fixtures and ambient LED mood lighting. The result is a more modern and homely feel, while still retaining the practical, durable and off-road-ready character that the XT range is known for.

The exterior has also evolved, with a squared-off body profile, black aluminium checker plate, refined detailing and new XT Signature Graphics. The new exterior design draws on the heritage of MDC’s off-road body design over many years, carrying forward the bold, recognisable character of the XT line while combining familiar toughness and visual presence with a cleaner, more contemporary execution of the brand's signature orange and blue accents.

MDC Founder and Managing Director, Vaughan Hindley, said the XT MK4 range reflects the company’s ongoing focus on real-world customer use and strong standard inclusions.
“For 20 years, MDC has grown by listening to how people actually travel,”
Mr Hindley said.
“We have always believed customers should get strong value, serious capability and the equipment they need as standard. Fitting a Projecta 48V electrical system valued at more than $27,000 as standard is a clear example of that approach.”
“The XT MK4 range is the next step in that journey. It brings together off-road capability, modern comfort and a new level of off-grid power in a way that we believe will be very compelling for Australian caravan buyers.”
Unlike many products in the market that require customers to option up for vital adventure-ready equipment, MDC has continued its focus on high standard specification. Across the XT MK4 range, customers can expect major inclusions such as the Projecta 48V electrical system, Dometic 48V air conditioning, NCE air fry cooking, Dometic induction cooktop, Truma AquaGo hot water, Eberspächer diesel heating, Thetford-equipped external kitchens, external showers, water filtration, fully enclosed annexes and a collapsible wall-mounted clothes line.
The XT MK4 range retains the off-road DNA of the XT nameplate, with specifications including XTRACK trailing arm suspension with dual TOUGH TRAX HD shock absorbers, Cruisemaster DO35 coupling, MAXTRAX MKII recovery tracks, rear storage bar, 12V LED external underbody strip lighting, jerry can storage, Tuson asymmetric electronic stability control, mud-terrain tyres, underbody tank protection and integrated recovery equipment.

Built on a hot dip galvanised chassis with heavy-duty protective finish black drawbar, and backed by MDC’s full off-road lifetime chassis and drawbar warranty, the XT MK4 range has been developed for serious off-road travel while offering a more advanced and comfortable ownership experience. Construction also includes welded aluminium wall and roof frames, composite wall construction and a one-piece thermoplastic composite honeycomb floor.
The XT MK4 range brings together the elements modern off-grid travellers value most: usable power, real comfort, strong off-road capability and the equipment needed to escape with confidence.
The XT MK4 range pricing and model availability will be announced in due course. Customers can view the first XT MK4 models at the MDC display during the Let’s Go Queensland Caravan & Camping Supershow, held from 3 to 7 June 2026.
