Jayco Silverline: Caravan Review

The brand new Silverline from Jayco replaces the beloved Sterling marque, which was previously the top-of-the range flagship Jayco caravan.

The Silverline comes in internal lengths ranging from 21-25ft. The most popular layout is this one shown here, with a large front lounge.

SUSPENSION

The Silverline is the first caravan since 1975 to be fitted with independent suspension as standard. It comes with Jayco’s own new JTECH suspension with trailing arms, coil spring, and single shock absorber per wheel on each axle.

Other exciting new external features include a slide-out gas cylinder locker which makes the front of the van more aerodynamic and, thus, more economical to tow. This also provides the gas cylinders with stone protection and makes them very easy to replace when they run low.

INTERIOR STYLE

Inside the Jayco Silverline you’ll find lots of familiar features from the Sterling, although they’ve been updated with a new 2014 Euro chic look.

The Silverline has a new interior style, trim and features, including the big front leather lounge which seats 6-8 people and is surrounded by panoramic windows.

The kitchen is not all that large but is very functional. It has a deep sink, drainer, combo four-burner cooktop, soft-close drawers (throughout the van) and a 190L Dometic fridge/freezer.

BEDROOM SLIDE-OUT

The east-west bed sits in an offside slide-out which creates heaps of extra space at the flick of a switch. With the bed extended, there is plenty of room to move around the bed to the rear ensuite.

THE VERDICT

There’s a lot to like in the Silverline – it has the space, style and features we’ve come to expect from the Sterling but with a special modern touch.

It puts a world of luxury, class, comfort and features in the reach of people who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
