Whether you’re a seasoned traveller or just getting started on your caravanning and camping adventures, Supex makes exploring the outdoors easy and fun.

With 50 years of experience servicing the leisure industry, the team at Supex curates and distributes a range of innovative camping and caravanning products, from everyday essentials such as camping chairs, cookware and sleeping mats to its highly popular caravan starter packs.

Where it all began

The Supex story began when Ron Kennard bought a metal fabrication company in Sydney in 1973. Infusing his passion for adventure with a vision to enhance the lives of other outdoor enthusiasts, he and his family swiftly evolved the business into one of Australia’s top camping, RV and caravan gear brands, Supex.

The family’s ethos was simple: to share the creations he crafted for his own adventures with like-minded individuals, creating a community united by a love of the outdoors. Three generations later, the Kennard family continues to inspire and support adventurers and explorers with gear and advice they can trust.

Now based in Goulburn in regional New South Wales, Supex is still proudly Australian owned and operated. From custom-made caravan starter packs to everyday camping must-haves, the Supex range is available direct to customers on the website or through trusted retailers across Australia, New Zealand and overseas.

While the business has evolved over the years, the family’s love for the outdoors has remained unchanged.

With six kids, Ron’s family has always been an energetic one, building memories through bushwalks, road trips and stargazing nights under the night sky.

“That’s why we ‘get’ the outdoors — the rugged terrain, unpredictable weather and need for equipment you can rely on,” said Tamar Kennard, Supex marketing manager. “And that’s why we’re committed to crafting reliable, trusted-by-experts gear that will withstand anything you throw at it.”

Why should you choose Supex products?

Tamar said Supex is set apart by its family values, customer service and attention to detail.

“We boast high-quality equipment that works,” she said. “Every product we bring to market goes through our development process and is always asked, does this make exploring the outdoors easier and more fun for everyone?

“Earlier in the year we set out to do some market research, asking people what they thought we were and how we stood apart from the competition.

“The replies were summarised into the following points, which we have always stood by and continue to stand by in our work. We are real, high-quality, helpful, trusted and practical. We are recommended by experts, a trusted source of honest advice and offer flexibility within our range to our B2B customers.”

Best and most innovative Supex products

Whether its caravan and RV accessories and essentials, electrical and 12V products, trailer hardware or camping and outdoor gear such as beach tents and inflatables, camping furniture, bedding and cast-iron cookware, Supex boasts some of the most innovative products on the market.

Versa Light range

The Versa Light range is one Supex’s recent releases and is a rechargeable waterproof multi-use light that comes in three sizes/power modes. The great thing about these lights is that they are magnetic which is ideal for attaching to your car bonnet, under your caravan chassis; in your gear tunnel boot or anywhere you need light.

The three power levels are 2500mAh, 4400mAh and 6600mAh, and all three sizes feature five light modes: torch, daylight, bug repellent amber, cool white and flashing SOS.

They also come with a heavy-duty lanyard, are waterproof to IP66, have a glass breaker for emergencies, a power bank function for charging devices and built-in magnets

The Vibe Light

This is another great Supex product, and it does exactly what it is meant to do: it sets the vibe. It features 9m of string lights and eight lighting modes (warm, multi-colour flashing, multi-colour breathing, with lamp, lamp only, bright torch, dim torch and flashing torch), so you’re sure to have the flashiest setup.

Vibe lights are perfect for under awnings or around tents or swags. They are IP44 rated, have a handle for hanging, USB-C charging (cord included) and five to 12-hour battery life.

Caravan awning accessories

Protection for your caravan awning is vital and can be the difference between paying for another awning or the smaller amount for accessories designed to extend the longevity of your awning. Some recommendations from the team include anti-flap kits, curved roof rafters and a storage bag for those two items to keep them going longer too.

An awning centre support cradle reinforces the centre weight of any roll-out awning while travelling, preventing natural sag and keeping your whole awning secure.

And to reduce the rattling and risk of your awnings and poles breaking while travelling, check out the Supex caravan awning safety straps. They’re very handy for all RV owners when transporting awning hardware.

Campsite essentials

For the best camping setup, the team recommends adding those small little comforts that just add to your experience such as a rechargeable fan which is perfect for under the awning when it can get quite hot.

If you’re planning to go camping off-grid in remote locations it helps to keep your weight down to maximise fuel economy and to get more space for essential items. Supex recommends swapping bulky and heavy furniture for the Wanderlite range. The Voyager chair is great all-round option — it’s lightweight but also packs down into an easy carry bag that’s great for transporting and storage.

Caravan starter kits

One of Supex’s top sellers is its starter kits which include everything you’ll need to setup your caravan, including hoses for drinking water and sullage, hose storage bags, electrical leads and adaptors. There are standard and deluxe options, which you can pick from depending on your van style and preferences.

Tamar said the reason the caravan starter packs are so popular is because they include those essential items you need to go on your adventures — but focusing on items that aren’t included with your van when you purchase it.

“We hate seeing people be caught out thinking they are ready to go, but they don’t have those essential items, for example a sullage hose, that they are absolutely going to need for their trip. The kits take the guess work out of ensuring you’ve got the right thing you need. And as a bonus, you might get a surprise bumper sticker to add to your collection.

“Our starter kit has reviews that averages at 4.6 out of 5 stars. This is just an example of how much people love it.”

But how do they perform in harsh Aussie environments?

Supex celebrated its 50th birthday this year.

“An outdoor gear business doesn’t just withstand 50 years if its gear can’t,” said Tamar. “We stand by our high-quality materials and sourcing.”

Supex’s in-house manufacturing continues to use tried and tested methods for manufacturing all its metal and steel products. These items are built to withstand Australian outback conditions. A good example of something that’s built to last is the hoop leg stools.

“These stools have been around for decades, and we still have customers showing us their original stools from the 1990s — still being used and taken on their adventures all around the country,” Tamar said. “It’s something we love to see because it’s a high-quality product that we know lasts, not something you have to buy over and over. This kind of high quality and long-lasting gear is what all our products stand for, and what we want to continue to stand by.”

New products coming from Supex this summer

This summer will see some new products added to the Supex range including the hard-wired caravan lighting range. These modern, stylish and affordable interior and awning lights will provide different options to those with caravans. Instead of the stock-standard ranges of lights, you can have modern and stylish options that elevate your van look. They will be multi-featured from dimmable switches, flexible arms and multiple light modes.

Also check out the new addition to the Wanderlite range — the Seeker table — which has two big cup holders that actually fit big water bottles (not just a small paper cup or a beer).

Customer support

Being a family-owned business, the team at Supex values being able to speak face-to-face to customers and help where needed — whether that’s helping a customer find their nearest stockist or assessing whether a product can be customised to meet individual needs, caravan or setup.

All products carry a standard warranty, but some of lines have extended warranty such as tarps and privacy screen (four-year warranty).
